EARTH DAY / APRIL COLLABORATION KNIFERead more
This month's collaboration project happens to coincide with a special day so for this year's Earth Day (April 22nd) we have teamed up with local BCN design studio Oiko, that have supplied us with their uniquely developed N.E.W material (No End Waste) which we have used to create handle scales for just 9 limited edition full tang chef's knives.
The N.E.W. material is made from recycled HDPE bottles, it has good machining properties and It's durable and water-resistant. To make these blades we used our high carbon 14c28n Swedish Stainless steel which is made of about 70% recycled steel so that the environmental impact of this knife is very low.
It is a western-edged knife with a 205mm long blade, 50/50 grind, 3mm thick steel at the base of the spine tapering down to the tip. We have etched this knife with some spectacular and bold graphics, courtesy of Gymnasium Design office who are at the helm of steering and creating our visual content.
Proceeds from the sale of these knives will be donated to GEPAC, a veteran Catalan environmental foundation that helps educate about and protect local nature and wildlife.
