WE TEAMED UP WITH THE LOCAL ROOFTOP SMOKEHOUSE, A CONVERTED PORCELAIN DOLL FACTORY TURNED SMOKERY AND KITCHEN, TO HOST A COMBINED KNIFE SHARPENING AND FISH FILLETING AND CURING WORKSHOP.
TOMER WAS ON HAND, TEACHING EVERYONE HOW TO SHARPEN KNIVES ON A SET OF TRADITIONAL JAPANESE WHETSTONES. WE THEN FILLETED, CURED AND SMOKED SOME FRESH MACKEREL, SATISFYINGLY FOLLOWED BY SLICING SOME CUCUMBERS WITH THE NEWLY SHARPENED BLADES TO MAKE A FRESH, KOSHER DILL PICKLE. AT THE END, GUESTS GATHERED AROUND THE TABLE TO ENJOY THE SMOKY, PICKLEY TREATS AND A COLD BEERS.
